Buy a unicycle

The standard unicycle that you can buy from us are suitable for riding on squares and streets. It is the basis for possibly continuing with Extreme Unicycling. When riding unicycles, trial, street or flatland disciplines, the forces on the unicycle become much greater. We have special models for that.

What size unicycle should I choose?

When choosing a unicycle, the leg length is decisive. The leg length is the distance measured on the inside of the leg, from crotch to the ground. For a unicycle it is stated what leg length it is suitable for.

The origins of the unicycle

In the nineteenth century there were no unicycles, not even real bicycles, but there was a high bi. A high bi is a very large wheel with pedals and a very small rear wheel.
When a rider braked too hard on a high Bi, the rear wheel came off the ground. Some people tried to ride on the big wheel for as long as possible and it was discovered that the small wheel at the back was not necessary to keep moving and so the unicycle was born.

Just a wheel

In circuses people often cycle on just a single wheel. So without seat post with saddle. The rider stands on the pedals and keeps the wheel more or less in balance with his lower legs while cycling. The saddleless unicycle has no moving parts, except the pedals.

The Standard unicycle

You start unicycling on a standard unicycle. This usually has a rim of 16, 18, 20 or 24 inches. The unicycle has a standard axle of 92 mm, steel cranks of 127 mm, plastic pedals, an aluminum or steel rim with a single wall, a frame with dropped shoulders, a quick release and a hard, 'classic' saddle.

The Freestyle unicycle

The freestyle unicycle is an improved version of the standard unicycle with a wheel of usually 20 inches. A freestyle unicycle has a heavy axle, 92mm or 100mm depending on the rider's preference. The cranks are 80mm to 114mm and are made of steel or aluminum. The pedals are made of plastic. Freestyle rims are double-walled. The frame has a flat crown. Furthermore, these unicycles are equipped with a seat post clamp with double bolt and a flat saddle with spring bar.

The Racing Unicycle

A racing unicycle is a light unicycle with a 24-inch wheel, where the tire size may not exceed 25-559. The cranks must not be shorter than 125 mm. There is no minimum weight for the unicycle.

The Distance Unicycle

A unicycle for distance riding often has a 36 inch tire. It is currently the largest pneumatic tire being made. Races are also held on the distance unicycle, for example the 10 km or the marathon (43 km)
